Easy Cooker Mutton Curry

Easy Cooker Mutton Curry

Easy cooker mutton curry is a flavorful and delicious Indian dish made with tender mutton (goat meat) cooked in a rich and aromatic curry sauce. The use of a slow cooker or pressure cooker makes the cooking process easier and allows the flavors to develop beautifully.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 pounds mutton (goat meat), cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons oil or ghee
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to your spice preference)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 cup water
  • Fresh cilantro leaves, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil or ghee in a pan or pressure cooker over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  2. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan and sauté for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the chopped tomatoes to the pan and cook until they soften and release their juices.
  4. Add the ground coriander, cumin, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt to the pan. Stir well to combine the spices with the onion and tomato mixture.
  5. Add the mutton pieces to the pan and cook for a few minutes, stirring occasionally, until the meat is browned on all sides.
  6. If using a pressure cooker, add water to the cooker, close the lid, and cook the mutton curry under pressure for about 20-25 minutes, or until the meat is tender. If using a slow cooker, transfer the mixture to the slow cooker, add water, and cook on low heat for 6-8 hours or on high heat for 3-4 hours until the meat is tender.
  7. Once cooked, remove the lid of the pressure cooker or slow cooker. If the sauce is too thin, you can simmer it for a few minutes to thicken it to your desired consistency.
  8. Garnish the mutton curry with freshly chopped cilantro leaves.

Serve the easy cooker mutton curry hot with rice, naan, or roti. The slow cooking process allows the flavors to meld together, resulting in a rich and aromatic curry that is sure to be a hit.
