Baked Fish On Potato Gratin

Baked fish on potato gratin is a delicious and comforting dish that combines tender fish fillets with creamy potato gratin. The fish is baked on top of a bed of thinly sliced potatoes layered with cheese and cream, resulting in a flavorful and satisfying meal.

Ingredients:

  • 4 fish fillets (such as cod, haddock, or salmon)
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (such as cheddar or gruyere)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh herbs (such as thyme or parsley), chopped for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter or oil to prevent sticking.
  3. Layer the thinly sliced potatoes in the baking dish, overlapping them slightly to create a potato gratin base.
  4. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the potatoes, reserving the other half for later.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic with the heavy cream. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Pour the garlic-infused cream mixture over the potatoes and cheese in the baking dish, making sure it is evenly distributed.
  7. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cream has thickened.
  8. Remove the baking dish from the oven and place the fish fillets on top of the cooked potato gratin.
  9. Season the fish fillets with salt and pepper to taste. You can also add additional herbs or spices if desired.
  10. Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese over the fish fillets.
  11. Return the baking dish to the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and the cheese is melted and golden brown.
  12. Once cooked, remove the baked fish on potato gratin from the oven. Garnish with fresh herbs, such as chopped thyme or parsley.

Serve the baked fish on potato gratin hot as a main course. The creamy and cheesy potato gratin pairs perfectly with the tender and flavorful fish fillets, creating a satisfying and comforting dish. Enjoy!
