Stuffed Italian Frying Peppers
Stuffed Italian frying peppers are a popular dish made with sweet or mild Italian frying peppers that are filled with a savory mixture and then cooked until tender. They are commonly enjoyed as an appetizer or side dish.
Ingredients:
- 6-8 Italian frying peppers
- 1 cup Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Olive oil, for drizzling
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Wash the Italian frying peppers and pat them dry. Slice off the tops of the peppers and remove the seeds and membranes. Leave the peppers whole.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked Italian sausage, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Stuff the mixture into each pepper, filling them to the top. Gently press the stuffing into the peppers to ensure they are tightly packed.
- Place the stuffed peppers on a baking sheet or in a baking dish. Drizzle olive oil over the peppers to lightly coat them.
- Bake the stuffed peppers in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the peppers are tender and the filling is heated through.
- Once cooked, remove the stuffed peppers from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
Stuffed Italian frying peppers can be served as is or paired with a side of marinara sauce for dipping. They make a flavorful and satisfying appetizer or side dish that highlights the delicious taste of Italian frying peppers. Enjoy!
