Air Fryer Muffins are a variation of traditional muffins that are prepared using an air fryer instead of a conventional oven. An air fryer is a kitchen appliance that uses hot circulating air to cook food, creating a crispy outer texture similar to deep-frying but with significantly less oil.

To make air fryer muffins, the batter is prepared using the same ingredients and methods as regular muffins. The batter typically includes flour, sugar, eggs, butter or oil, milk or buttermilk, and flavorings such as vanilla extract or spices. Optional mix-ins like chocolate chips, fruits, nuts, or spices can also be added for additional flavor and texture.

Once the muffin batter is prepared, it is portioned into muffin cups or molds suitable for the air fryer. The muffin cups are then placed in the air fryer basket or tray, and the air fryer is preheated to the desired temperature, usually around 350°F (175°C).

The muffins are then cooked in the preheated air fryer for a specific amount of time, typically between 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the size and recipe. It's important to check for doneness by inserting a toothpick or skewer into the center of a muffin. If it comes out clean or with a few crumbs, the muffins are ready.

Ingredients:

  • 300g (2 1/2 cups) flour
  • 200g (1 cup) sugar
  • 100ml (1/2 cup) vegetable oil
  • 200ml (4/5 cup) milk
  • 12g baking powder
  • Chocolate chips
  • 3 eggs

Steps:

  1. In a bowl, combine the sugar and eggs. Mix for 1 minute until well combined.
  2. Add the flour, baking powder, milk, and vegetable oil to the bowl. Mix thoroughly until a smooth batter forms.
  3. Fill the muffin cups partially with the batter, then add some chocolate chips to each cup. Cover the chocolate chips with more batter until the cups are nearly full.
  4. Sprinkle a few additional chocolate chips on top of each muffin for extra indulgence.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 180°C/356°F.
  6. Place the muffin cups in the air fryer basket, making sure they are spaced apart to allow for even cooking.
  7. Cook the muffins in the air fryer for approximately 15 minutes, or until they are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Once cooked, carefully remove the muffins from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving.
