Smoked Steak Sandwich with Mushrooms and Swiss Cheese

Smoked Steak Sandwich with Mushrooms and Swiss Cheese

A smoked steak sandwich with mushrooms and Swiss cheese sounds absolutely delicious!

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of steak (such as ribeye or sirloin)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil
  • 1 cup of sliced mushrooms (such as cremini or button mushrooms)
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 4 sandwich rolls or slices of bread
  • Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, onions, mayonnaise, mustard, etc.

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat.
  2. Season the steak with salt and pepper on both sides. Drizzle some olive oil over the steak to prevent sticking.
  3. Grill the steak for about 4-6 minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. Once cooked, remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  4. While the steak is resting, heat the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté the mushrooms until they are tender and lightly browned. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Slice the steak into thin strips against the grain.
  6. Preheat your oven to broil setting.
  7. Assemble the sandwiches by placing a few slices of steak on the bottom half of each roll or slice of bread. Top the steak with a generous amount of sautéed mushrooms, and place a slice of Swiss cheese on top.
  8. Place the sandwiches on a baking sheet and broil them in the oven until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Keep a close eye on them to prevent burning.
  9. Remove the sandwiches from the oven and add any desired toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, onions, mayonnaise, or mustard.
  10. Serve your smoked steak sandwiches warm and enjoy!
