Spaghetti and Meatballs

Spaghetti and meatballs is a classic Italian-American recipe that has become popular all over the world thanks to its incomparable flavor.

This delicious, easy main dish is made up of tender, juicy meatballs arranged on perfectly cooked spaghetti and served with a rich tomato sauce. If that’s not enough for you, you can try the version with marinara sauce - you’ll love it!

INGREDIENTS (serve 4)

for the meatballs:

  • 350g minced beef
  • 150g minced pork or pork sausage
  • 150g stale bread
  • 80g Parmesan cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 500ml of milk
  • 1 sprig of thyme
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • bread crumbs q.s.
  • salt
  • pepper

for the sauce :

  • 700g tomato passata
  • 4 tbsp of extra virgin Olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove
  • handful basil leaves
  • salt & pepper to taste

Pasta:

  • 500g of Spaghetti

METHOD

Start by making the sauce!

  1. In a medium-large pot,heat up olive oil, then add garlic and fry until golden.
  2. Remove the clove and add the tomato passata.
  3. Add salt and pepper to taste and let it simmer for about 20 min.
  4. Switch off the flame and add a few basil leaves in the infusion.

Now let’s Roll some meatballs…

6. Pour the milk in a bowl and soak your stale bread for 10 to 15 min.

7. In a separate bowl add and mix the ingredients thoroughly by hand.(incl.soaked bread)

8. Let it rest in the fridge for 15 min.

9. Then take the meatball mix and roll it into 50-60g balls.

10. Pan fry them in olive oil 3-4 min on each side.

Time to combine

11. Cook your pasta in salted boiling water

12. In the meantime, heat up your tomato sauce and add your meatballs in it.

13. Strain your pasta and add it to the sauce.

14. Combine all together.

15. Serve it with a sprinkle of parmigiano and basil.
