Perfect Potato Side

Perfect Potato Side

This parmesan Duchess potatoes recipe is perfect for the holidays. They're light and buttery on the inside with crispy edges on the outside, definitely an elevated version of mashed potatoes. They look so fancy, and the secret is, they're so easy to do!

Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped chives, grated cheese, or sour cream for additional flavor

Instructions:

  1. Peel and chop the potatoes into evenly sized chunks. This helps them cook more evenly.
  2. Place the potato chunks in a large pot and cover them with cold water. Add a pinch of salt to the water.
  3. Bring the water to a boil and then reduce the heat to simmer. Cook the potatoes for about 15-20 minutes, or until they are fork-tender.
  4. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
  5. Add the butter and milk to the potatoes. You can warm the milk before adding it to the potatoes if you want to keep them hot.
  6. Mash the potatoes with a potato masher or use a hand mixer for a smoother consistency. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  7. If you like, you can stir in chopped chives, grated cheese, or a dollop of sour cream for extra flavor.
