Homemade Whipped Cream

Homemade Whipped Cream

Homemade Whipped Cream is truly so much better than store-bought, and so easy to make! It is rich, smooth, and full of creamy vanilla flavor.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream (chilled)
  • 2-3 tablespoons powdered sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Begin by chilling a mixing bowl and beaters or whisk attachments in the freezer for about 15-30 minutes. This will help the cream whip up faster.
  2. Pour the cold heavy whipping cream into the chilled mixing bowl.
  3. Start whipping the cream using an electric mixer or a hand whisk. Begin on low speed and gradually increase it to medium-high.
  4. As the cream thickens, you can add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract (if using). The sugar adds sweetness, and the vanilla extract adds flavor. Adjust the amount of sugar to your taste.
  5. Continue to whip the cream until it reaches stiff peaks. Stiff peaks mean that when you lift the beaters or whisk, the whipped cream holds its shape and doesn't collapse.
  6. Be careful not to overwhip the cream, as it can turn into butter. If you notice the cream thickening to a point where it's becoming too firm, you've gone too far. For a smooth whipped cream, stop as soon as you achieve stiff peaks.
  7. Once your homemade whipped cream is ready, you can use it to top your favorite desserts, such as pies, cakes, or fruit.
