Easy Beef Stroganoff

Easy Beef Stroganoff

This Beef Stroganoff recipe is an old family favorite! Tender, juicy meat smothered in a rich, creamy mushroom sauce. It'll become a classic at your dinner table too!

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 lbs (700g) beef sirloin or tenderloin, thinly sliced into strips
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz (225g) cremini or white mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
  • Cooked egg noodles or rice, for serving

Instructions:

  1. Season the sliced beef with salt and black pepper.
  2. In a large skillet or pan, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add chopped onions and cook until they become translucent.
  4. Add minced garlic and sliced mushrooms to the onions. Cook until the mushrooms release their moisture and become golden brown.
  5. Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and stir to combine. Cook for about 1-2 minutes to eliminate the raw taste of the flour.
  6. Add tomato paste to the pan and stir.
  7. Gradually pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  8. Return the browned beef to the pan and simmer for about 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.
  9. Reduce the heat to low. Stir in the sour cream until the sauce is smooth and well combined. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
  10. Serve the Beef Stroganoff over cooked egg noodles or rice.
  11. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
