Enjoy your homemade chicken samosas!
Ingredients:
For the filling:
- 1 cup cooked and shredded chicken
- 1 cup boiled and mashed potatoes
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
- 1/2 cup frozen peas
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon minced ginger
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
For the samosa dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- Water, as needed
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and vegetable oil.
- Gradually add water and knead to form a smooth, pliable dough. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Prepare the Filling:
- Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until onions are translucent.
- Add shredded chicken, mashed potatoes, peas, and all the spices. Cook until well combined and the mixture is dry. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- Assemble the Samosas:
- Divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a thin oval or round shape.
- Cut each oval in half to create two semi-circles.
- Take one semi-circle, fold it into a cone shape, and seal the edge with water.
- Fill the cone with the chicken-potato mixture and seal the open edge, pinching to ensure it's closed.
- Fry the Samosas:
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- Once the oil is hot, carefully place the prepared samosas and fry until they turn golden brown and crispy.
- Remove them with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- Serve:
- Serve the chicken samosas hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.
