- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups mulled red wine (cooled to room temperature)
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons mulled red wine
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, and then add the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the mulled red wine. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar and mulled red wine until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake.
- Slice, serve, and enjoy your delicious mulled wine cake!
