Pear Cobbler

This pear cobbler recipe is a sweet indulgence of ripe, juicy pears, warm spices, and a buttery, golden crust. This easy pear cobbler takes less than 1 hour to make and is the perfect dessert for fall.

Ingredients:

For the Pear Filling:

  • 6-8 medium-sized ripe pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

For the Cobbler Topping:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. Prepare the Pear Filling:

  • In a large bowl, combine the sliced pears with sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. Toss until the pears are evenly coated. Allow the mixture to sit for a few minutes to let the flavors meld.

3. Transfer to Baking Dish:

  • Transfer the pear filling into a greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.

4. Prepare the Cobbler Topping:

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt for the cobbler topping.
  • Add the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined. The batter will be thick.

5. Add Topping to Pears:

  • Drop spoonfuls of the cobbler topping over the pear mixture, covering it as evenly as possible.

6. Bake:

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the cobbler topping is golden brown and the pear filling is bubbly.

7. Cool and Serve:

  • Allow the pear cobbler to cool slightly before serving. It's delicious on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
