Cajun Butter Turkey
Turkey anyone? This beautiful Cajun Butter Turkey is a fool-proof turkey recipe that will make any person LOVE turkey. It’s easy, and memorable.
Ingredients:
- 1 whole turkey (about 12-14 pounds)
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 lemon, halved
- Fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary, sage) for stuffing and garnish
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Rinse the turkey inside and out, pat it dry with paper towels, and place it in a roasting pan.
- In a bowl, combine melted butter, Cajun seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, oregano, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create the Cajun butter rub.
- Rub the Cajun butter mixture all over the turkey, including under the skin and inside the cavity.
- Stuff the cavity with lemon halves and fresh herbs like thyme, rosemary, and sage.
- Tie the turkey legs together with kitchen twine for even cooking.
- Roast the turkey in the preheated oven, basting every 30 minutes with the pan juices, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). This will take about 3 to 4 hours, depending on the size of the turkey.
- Once the turkey is cooked, let it rest for 15-20 minutes before carving.
- Garnish with additional fresh herbs before serving.
