Cajun Butter Turkey

Turkey anyone? This beautiful Cajun Butter Turkey is a fool-proof turkey recipe that will make any person LOVE turkey. It’s easy, and memorable.

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole turkey (about 12-14 pounds)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • Fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary, sage) for stuffing and garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Rinse the turkey inside and out, pat it dry with paper towels, and place it in a roasting pan.
  3. In a bowl, combine melted butter, Cajun seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, oregano, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create the Cajun butter rub.
  4. Rub the Cajun butter mixture all over the turkey, including under the skin and inside the cavity.
  5. Stuff the cavity with lemon halves and fresh herbs like thyme, rosemary, and sage.
  6. Tie the turkey legs together with kitchen twine for even cooking.
  7. Roast the turkey in the preheated oven, basting every 30 minutes with the pan juices, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). This will take about 3 to 4 hours, depending on the size of the turkey.
  8. Once the turkey is cooked, let it rest for 15-20 minutes before carving.
  9. Garnish with additional fresh herbs before serving.
