Ingredients:
- 4 fish fillets (any white fish like tilapia, cod, or haddock)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp oil for marination, plus extra for frying
- 2 eggs (optional, for an egg wash)
Instructions:
- Rinse the fish fillets and pat them dry with a paper towel.
- In a bowl, mix together flour, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt.
- Add lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of oil to the dry mixture to form a thick paste. Adjust the consistency by adding more oil if needed.
- Apply this masala paste to both sides of each fish fillet, ensuring they are well coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.
- If you prefer a crispy coating, you can beat eggs in a separate bowl and dip each marinated fillet into the egg wash before frying.
- Heat oil in a pan for shallow frying. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the marinated fish fillets in the pan.
- Fry each side until it turns golden brown and the fish is cooked through. This usually takes about 3-4 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the fillets.
- Once done, place the fried fish on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.
