Marble Banana Bread

This marble banana bread bakes up moist and tender and is topped with chocolate chip streusel and a chocolate ganache drizzle.

Ingredients:

For the Banana Bread Batter:

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the Chocolate Marble Swirl:

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Prepare Chocolate Marble Swirl:
    • In a small bowl, mix together cocoa powder, hot water, and sugar until well combined. Set aside.
  3. Prepare Banana Bread Batter:
    • In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork.
    • Add melted butter, vanilla extract, sugar, and the egg. Mix until well combined.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Incorporate Dry Ingredients:
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Marble Swirl:
    • Take about 1 cup of the banana bread batter and mix it with the prepared chocolate marble mixture.
  7. Layer the Batter:
    • Spoon the regular banana bread batter and the chocolate-marbled batter alternately into the prepared loaf pan.
  8. Create Swirls:
    • Use a knife or skewer to create swirls by gently running it through the batter in a zigzag pattern.
  9. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for about 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  10. Cool and Serve:
    • Allow the Marble Banana Bread to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
