Eggnog French Toast

This Eggnog French Toast with Gingerbread Syrup is my new favorite Christmas breakfast. Get a taste of Christmas in every gooey, delicious bite!

Ingredients:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup eggnog
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 8 slices of bread (Challah or Brioche work well)
  • Butter for cooking
  • Optional toppings: maple syrup, powdered sugar, whipped cream, or nutmeg for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Griddle or Pan:
    • Preheat a griddle or non-stick frying pan over medium heat.
  2. Prepare the Eggnog Mixture:
    • In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, eggnog, vanilla extract, ground nutmeg, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
  3. Dip the Bread:
    • Dip each slice of bread into the eggnog mixture, ensuring both sides are coated.
  4. Cook on Griddle or Pan:
    • Add butter to the preheated griddle or pan. Place the dipped bread slices on the cooking surface.
  5. Cook Until Golden Brown:
    • Cook each side until golden brown and slightly crispy, typically 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Serve Warm:
    • Once cooked, transfer the Eggnog French Toast to a serving plate.
  7. Garnish:
    • Garnish with your choice of toppings such as maple syrup, powdered sugar, whipped cream, or a sprinkle of nutmeg.
  8. Serve Immediately:
    • Serve the Eggnog French Toast warm and enjoy!
