Cantonese Food
Thought it might be fun to do this video in Cantonese as well - that is, what is Cantonese home cooking? The Canto version is more chit-chatty and mostly for fun. We did have fun filming it, it's nice to make a video in Cantonese once in a while, hope you like it too!
Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup pineapple chunks
- 1 bell pepper, cut into chunks
- 1 onion, cut into chunks
- 1 carrot, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- Vegetable oil for cooking
- Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- In a bowl, mix ketchup, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and sugar to make the sauce. Dissolve cornstarch in 2 tablespoons of water and add it to the sauce. Set aside.
- In a wok or large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add chicken pieces and cook until browned and cooked through. Remove chicken from the wok and set aside.
- In the same wok, add a bit more oil if needed. Stir-fry garlic, bell pepper, onion, and carrot until vegetables are slightly tender.
- Add pineapple chunks and cooked chicken back to the wok.
- Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken and vegetables. Stir well to coat everything evenly. Allow the sauce to thicken.
- Once the sauce thickens and coats the ingredients, remove from heat.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired.
