Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Place the peeled and chopped potatoes in a large pot and cover them with cold water. Add a generous pinch of salt to the water.
  2. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to simmer and cook the potatoes until they are fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
  4. Mash the potatoes using a potato masher or a ricer until there are no lumps.
  5. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
  6. Gradually add the warm milk to the melted butter, stirring to combine.
  7. Pour the butter and milk mixture into the mashed potatoes, stirring until well combined.
  8. Season the mashed potatoes with salt and pepper to taste. Adjust the seasoning as needed.
  9. Continue mashing until you achieve your desired consistency. If the mashed potatoes seem too thick, you can add more warm milk in small increments.
  10. Optional: Garnish with chopped fresh parsley for added flavor and color.

Serve the mashed potatoes hot as a side dish with your favorite main course. Enjoy your homemade creamy mashed potatoes!
