Incredible Roast Duck

Feel free to accompany the roast duck with your favorite side dishes, such as roasted vegetables or a savory rice pilaf. Enjoy your incredible roast duck!

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole duck (about 5-6 pounds)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Rinse the duck inside and out, then pat it dry with paper towels. Trim excess fat if needed.
  3. Season the duck generously with salt and pepper, both inside and outside.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, soy sauce, honey or maple syrup, Chinese five-spice powder, garlic powder, and ginger powder to create a glaze.
  5. Brush the duck with the glaze, ensuring it's evenly coated.
  6. Place the duck on a rack in a roasting pan, breast side up.
  7. Roast in the preheated oven for about 2 to 2.5 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the skin is crispy. Baste the duck with the glaze every 30 minutes.
  8. If the skin is getting too dark, you can tent the duck with foil.
  9. Once done, let the duck rest for 10-15 minutes before carving.
  10. Serve the roast duck slices on a platter, drizzled with any remaining glaze.
