Incredible Roast Duck

Feel free to accompany the roast duck with your favorite side dishes, such as roasted vegetables or a savory rice pilaf. Enjoy your incredible roast duck!
Ingredients:
- 1 whole duck (about 5-6 pounds)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon ginger powder
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Rinse the duck inside and out, then pat it dry with paper towels. Trim excess fat if needed.
- Season the duck generously with salt and pepper, both inside and outside.
- In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, soy sauce, honey or maple syrup, Chinese five-spice powder, garlic powder, and ginger powder to create a glaze.
- Brush the duck with the glaze, ensuring it's evenly coated.
- Place the duck on a rack in a roasting pan, breast side up.
- Roast in the preheated oven for about 2 to 2.5 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the skin is crispy. Baste the duck with the glaze every 30 minutes.
- If the skin is getting too dark, you can tent the duck with foil.
- Once done, let the duck rest for 10-15 minutes before carving.
- Serve the roast duck slices on a platter, drizzled with any remaining glaze.
