Sri Lankan Black Chicken Curry

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1/4 cup cooking oil
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 teaspoons red chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a pan, sauté onions until golden brown.
  2. Add ginger-garlic paste, sauté for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add turmeric, red chili, coriander, and cumin powders. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add chicken, cook until it changes color.
  5. Add tomato puree, yogurt, and salt. Cook until oil separates.
  6. Add garam masala, simmer for 10-15 minutes until chicken is cooked.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Serve hot with rice or naan.
