Aloo Bhuna Masala

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Cooking Steps:

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they sizzle, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute until the raw aroma disappears.
  3. Mix in tomato puree, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Cook until the oil separates from the masala.
  4. Add cubed potatoes, ensuring they are coated with the masala. Cook on medium heat until the potatoes develop a golden crust.
  5. Sprinkle garam masala and salt. Mix well, cover, and simmer until the potatoes are tender.
  6. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
