Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped almonds, toasted
  • 1 cup semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add sugar and salt, stirring continuously until the mixture reaches a golden brown color and has a toffee-like consistency. This usually takes about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Quickly spread the hot toffee mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, creating an even layer. Be cautious, as the toffee will be extremely hot.
  5. Sprinkle the toasted almonds evenly over the toffee layer, gently pressing them into the surface.
  6. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in short bursts, stirring between each burst until smooth.
  7. Pour the melted chocolate over the almond-covered toffee, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
  8. Allow the toffee to cool completely, either at room temperature or by placing it in the refrigerator for faster setting.
  9. Once fully cooled and the chocolate has hardened, break the toffee into bite-sized pieces.
  10. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.

Enjoy this delightful and easy-to-make Almond Toffee with a perfect balance of sweetness and crunch!
