Pie Crust

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (1088 kcal)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed (1628 kcal)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup ice water

Cooking Steps:

Step 1: In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and sugar. Mix well.

Step 2: Add the chilled, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingertips to work the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 3: Gradually add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, and mix until the dough just comes together. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 4: Divide the dough into two equal portions, shape each into a disk, and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.

Step 5: Preheat your oven to the temperature specified in your pie recipe.

Step 6: Roll out one disk of dough on a floured surface to fit your pie dish. Carefully transfer the rolled-out dough to the dish.

Step 7: Fill the pie with your desired filling, then roll out the second disk for the top crust or lattice.

Step 8: Bake according to your pie recipe instructions, and enjoy the flaky perfection of your homemade Perfect Pie Crust.
