Ingredients:

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces (880 kcal)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sake (optional)
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup potato starch (760 kcal)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Cooking Steps:

Step 1: In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sake, grated ginger, and minced garlic to create the marinade. Add the chicken pieces and let them marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Step 2: Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a heavy-bottomed pan to 350°F (180°C).

Step 3: Place potato starch in a shallow dish. Coat each marinated chicken piece with potato starch, ensuring even coverage.

Step 4: Carefully place the coated chicken into the hot oil, frying until golden brown and crispy (approximately 5-6 minutes).

Step 5: Remove the chicken from the oil and let it drain on a paper towel. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 6: Serve your crispy and flavorful Japanese Fried Chicken (Karaage) with a side of dipping sauce or enjoy it on its own. Itadakimasu!
