  • Confectioners' sugar for dusting

Calories per serving (approximate): 250 kcal

Steps:

  1. Prepare Puff Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into equal-sized rectangles. Prick each rectangle with a fork and bake according to package instructions or until golden brown. Allow them to cool.
  2. Make Pastry Cream: In a saucepan, heat milk until steaming but not boiling. In a bowl, whisk together sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks until smooth. Slowly pour the hot milk into the egg mixture, whisking continuously. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens. Remove from heat, add butter and vanilla extract, and stir until smooth. Let it cool.
  3. Assemble Napoleon Slices: Place a puff pastry rectangle on a serving plate. Spoon a layer of pastry cream over it. Top with another puff pastry rectangle, repeating the layers until you finish with a pastry cream layer. Dust the top with confectioners' sugar.
  4. Chill and Set: Refrigerate the Napoleon Slices for at least 2 hours to allow the layers to set and the flavors to meld.
  5. Slice and Serve: Once chilled, use a sharp knife to slice the Napoleon into individual portions. Serve the slices on dessert plates and enjoy the delightful combination of crisp pastry and creamy goodness.

Note: Feel free to get creative with additional toppings like fresh berries or a drizzle of chocolate for added decadence.
