Gingerbread House
Ingredients:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour (360 kcal)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (1624 kcal)
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup molasses
- Royal icing for construction and decoration
- Assorted candies, chocolates, and edible decorations
Instructions:
Step 1: Make the Gingerbread Dough
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and spices.
- In another bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until fluffy.
- Add the egg and molasses, mixing well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to form a dough. Divide and chill.
Step 2: Roll and Cut Shapes
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll out the chilled dough and cut out house shapes – walls, roof, and other desired pieces.
