Ingredients:

  1. Cornish hens (2, approximately 2.5 lbs each, 1,120 kcal)
  2. Buttermilk (2 cups, 300 kcal)
  3. All-purpose flour (2 cups, 800 kcal)
  4. Paprika (2 tsp)
  5. Garlic powder (1 tsp)
  6. Salt (1 tsp)
  7. Black pepper (1/2 tsp)
  8. Vegetable oil for frying (2 cups, 1,920 kcal)

Preparation Steps:

Step 1: Clean and pat dry the Cornish hens, ensuring they are free of excess moisture.

Step 2: In a bowl, soak the hens in buttermilk for at least 4 hours or overnight to enhance tenderness.

Step 3: In a separate bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to create the coating.

Step 4: Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 350°F (175°C).

Step 5: Remove each hen from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, and coat thoroughly with the seasoned flour mixture.

Step 6: Carefully place the hens in the hot oil, frying until golden brown and crispy, approximately 12-15 minutes per side.
