Crispy Fish And Chips
Ingredients:
- Fish:
- 4 cod or haddock fillets
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup cold sparkling water
- Chips:
- 4 large potatoes, cut into thick strips
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Salt to taste
- Tartar Sauce:
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons chopped pickles
- 1 tablespoon capers
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
Steps:
Step 1: Prepare the Batter
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
- Gradually add sparkling water to create a smooth batter.
Step 2: Coat the Fish
- Pat the fish fillets dry and dip them into the batter, ensuring an even coating.
Step 3: Make the Chips
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry potato strips until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels. Season with salt.
Step 4: Fry the Fish
- Fry the battered fish fillets until golden and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
Step 5: Prepare Tartar Sauce
- Mix mayonnaise, chopped pickles, capers, parsley, lemon juice, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
Step 6: Serve and Enjoy!
