Ingredients:
- 1 liter full-fat milk
- 1/4 cup lemon juice or vinegar
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
- Chopped nuts for garnish (pistachios, almonds, or cashews)
Cooking Steps:
- In a pan, bring the milk to a boil. Once boiling, add lemon juice or vinegar gradually while stirring until the milk curdles.
- Drain the whey using a muslin cloth or fine sieve, leaving behind the chenna or paneer.
- Knead the chenna for 10-15 minutes until it becomes smooth and pliable.
- In another pan, combine sugar and water to make a syrup. Bring it to a boil and then simmer until it reaches a one-string consistency.
- Add the kneaded chenna to the sugar syrup, stirring continuously over low heat.
- Cook until the mixture thickens and leaves the sides of the pan.
- Add cardamom powder and mix well.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased tray and spread it evenly.
- Garnish with chopped nuts and let it cool.
- Once set, cut the milk cake into desired shapes.
