Apricot Jam Tart: the Traditional, Simple and Delicious Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Crust:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons cold water

For the Filling:

  • 1 cup apricot jam (homemade or store-bought)

For Glaze (Optional):

  • Apricot preserves or honey for brushing (warmed)

Steps:

For the Crust:

  1. In a food processor, combine flour, chilled butter, and sugar. Pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Gradually add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, pulsing until the dough comes together.
  3. Gather the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

For the Tart:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a tart pan.
  2. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to fit the tart pan.
  3. Press the dough into the pan, trimming any excess. Prick the bottom with a fork to prevent air bubbles.
  4. Spread apricot jam evenly over the crust.

Baking:

  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
  2. Allow the tart to cool in the pan on a wire rack.

Optional Glaze:

  1. Warm apricot preserves or honey and brush it over the cooled tart for a glossy finish.

Slice into this Apricot Jam Tart and savor the simplicity and sweetness that captures the essence of a time-honored treat. Perfect for any occasion or a delightful everyday dessert.
