Homemade Flour Tortillas
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3/4 cup warm water
Cooking Steps:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder.
- Add vegetable oil to the dry ingredients and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add warm water to the mixture, kneading the dough until it forms a soft, smooth ball. If the dough is too sticky, add a bit more flour.
- Divide the dough into golf ball-sized portions and roll each portion into a ball.
- On a floured surface, roll out each ball into a thin, round tortilla.
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
- Cook each tortilla for about 30 seconds to 1 minute on each side, or until small brown spots appear.
- As each tortilla cooks, stack them on a plate and cover with a clean kitchen towel to keep them soft and warm.
- Serve the Homemade Flour Tortillas with your favorite fillings, such as grilled veggies, meats, or as a base for quesadillas.
