Homemade Flour Tortillas

Homemade Flour Tortillas

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup warm water

Cooking Steps:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder.
  2. Add vegetable oil to the dry ingredients and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add warm water to the mixture, kneading the dough until it forms a soft, smooth ball. If the dough is too sticky, add a bit more flour.
  4. Divide the dough into golf ball-sized portions and roll each portion into a ball.
  5. On a floured surface, roll out each ball into a thin, round tortilla.
  6. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  7. Cook each tortilla for about 30 seconds to 1 minute on each side, or until small brown spots appear.
  8. As each tortilla cooks, stack them on a plate and cover with a clean kitchen towel to keep them soft and warm.
  9. Serve the Homemade Flour Tortillas with your favorite fillings, such as grilled veggies, meats, or as a base for quesadillas.

Enjoy the satisfaction of making your own soft and flavorful flour tortillas at home!
