Spicy Jhol Momo

Ingredients:

For Momo Filling:

  • 1 lb ground meat (chicken, lamb, or beef)
  • 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Momo Wrapper:

  • Momo wrappers (store-bought or homemade)

For Jhol (Soup):

  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt to taste

Cooking Steps:

Momo Filling:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground meat, chopped cabbage, onions, cilantro, minced garlic, minced ginger, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix the ingredients thoroughly to create a well-combined filling.

Momo Assembly: 3. Take a momo wrapper, place a spoonful of the filling in the center, and fold the wrapper to form a crescent shape. Seal the edges.

Jhol (Soup): 4. In a pot, heat oil and add cumin seeds. Once they sizzle, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.

  1. Stir in turmeric powder and chili powder, followed by diced tomatoes. Cook until tomatoes are soft.
  2. Pour in the broth, season with salt, and bring it to a gentle simmer.

Momo Steaming: 7. Arrange the momos in a steamer and steam until the dumplings are cooked through.

Final Assembly: 8. Place steamed momos in serving bowls and ladle the hot jhol over them.

Serve Jhol Momo hot, and enjoy the delightful combination of tender dumplings and flavorful broth.
