Spicy Jhol Momo
Ingredients:
For Momo Filling:
- 1 lb ground meat (chicken, lamb, or beef)
- 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon minced ginger
- Salt and pepper to taste
For Momo Wrapper:
- Momo wrappers (store-bought or homemade)
For Jhol (Soup):
- 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt to taste
Cooking Steps:
Momo Filling:
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground meat, chopped cabbage, onions, cilantro, minced garlic, minced ginger, salt, and pepper.
- Mix the ingredients thoroughly to create a well-combined filling.
Momo Assembly: 3. Take a momo wrapper, place a spoonful of the filling in the center, and fold the wrapper to form a crescent shape. Seal the edges.
Jhol (Soup): 4. In a pot, heat oil and add cumin seeds. Once they sizzle, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Stir in turmeric powder and chili powder, followed by diced tomatoes. Cook until tomatoes are soft.
- Pour in the broth, season with salt, and bring it to a gentle simmer.
Momo Steaming: 7. Arrange the momos in a steamer and steam until the dumplings are cooked through.
Final Assembly: 8. Place steamed momos in serving bowls and ladle the hot jhol over them.
Serve Jhol Momo hot, and enjoy the delightful combination of tender dumplings and flavorful broth.
