  • 1 French baguette or Italian loaf
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 50 cloves of garlic, peeled
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and black pepper to taste


  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut the baguette or Italian loaf in half lengthwise, creating two long halves.
  3. In a bowl, mix the softened butter, peeled garlic cloves, chopped parsley, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  4. Spread the garlic and herb butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
  5. Place the buttered bread on a baking sheet.
  6. Wrap the bread in aluminum foil, creating a sealed packet.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the garlic cloves become soft and caramelized.
