- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups old-fashioned oats
- 1 cup raisins or chocolate chips (optional)
- 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans, optional)
Instructions:
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Step 3: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
Step 4: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Step 5: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Step 6: Fold in the oats and, if desired, add raisins or chocolate chips and chopped nuts.
Step 7: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each.
Step 8: Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden but the centers are still soft.
Step 9: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 10: Once cooled, savor the chewy goodness of these Oatmeal Cookies with a glass of milk or your favorite beverage.
Step 11: Store in an airtight container to maintain their chewiness.
Tip: For an extra touch of flavor, consider adding a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the dry ingredients.
Enjoy the chewiest oatmeal cookies that strike the perfect balance between soft and hearty!
