Sourdough Biscuits that are Better than Any Other

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sourdough starter (unfed/discard works well)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup milk (whole milk for richer flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Incorporate the cold, cubed butter into the dry ingredients until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gently stir in the sourdough starter and milk until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the dough should be shaggy.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and lightly knead it a few times. Pat the dough into a rectangle about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick.
  6. Using a biscuit cutter or a floured glass, cut out biscuits and place them on a baking sheet, leaving a little space between each.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
  8. Allow the biscuits to cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.

These Sourdough Biscuits, with their tangy flavor and perfect flakiness, will undoubtedly elevate your biscuit experience beyond any other. Enjoy them warm with butter or as a delightful accompaniment to your favorite dishes.
