Homemade Cinnamon Rolls
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
For the Filling:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
For the Cream Cheese Glaze:
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Steps:
For the Dough:
Step 1: In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
Step 2: Add sugar, melted butter, salt, and eggs to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
Step 3: Gradually add flour and knead until a soft dough forms. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
For the Filling:
Step 4: Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a large rectangle.
Step 5: Spread softened butter over the dough and sprinkle with a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon.
Step 6: Roll the dough tightly from the long side, then cut into individual rolls.
Step 7: Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Step 8: Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
For the Cream Cheese Glaze:
Step 9: While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze by beating together cream cheese, softened butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Step 10: Once the cinnamon rolls are out of the oven, spread the cream cheese glaze over them while they are still warm.
