Perfect Aloo Tikki

Ingredients:

  • 4 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1/2 cup peas (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch or breadcrumbs (for binding)
  • Oil for shallow frying

Instructions:

Step 1: In a mixing bowl, combine mashed potatoes, peas (if using), cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, salt, and chopped cilantro.

Step 2: Add cornstarch or breadcrumbs to the mixture for binding. Mix until well combined.

Step 3: Divide the mixture into equal-sized portions and shape them into round or oval patties.

Step 4: Heat oil in a pan for shallow frying.

Step 5: Carefully place the Aloo Tikki patties into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides.

Step 6: Remove excess oil by placing the tikkis on paper towels.

Step 7: Serve hot Aloo Tikki with chutney, yogurt, or tamarind sauce.

Step 8: Garnish with additional cilantro or chaat masala for extra flavor.

Step 9: Enjoy these crispy and spiced potato patties as a delightful snack or appetizer.
