Authentic Chicken Chow Mein at Home
Ingredients:
For the Chow Mein Sauce:
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
For the Chicken Marinade: 8. 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs, thinly sliced

For the Chow Mein: 12. 8 oz (225g) chow mein noodles
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1 cup sliced bell peppers (assorted colors)
- 1 cup shredded cabbage
- 1 cup bean sprouts
- 4 green onions, sliced
Steps:
Step 1: Prepare the Chow Mein Sauce In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, sugar, and chicken broth. Set aside.
Step 2: Marinate the Chicken In another bowl, combine sliced chicken with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Allow it to marinate for at least 15 minutes.
Step 3: Cook the Chow Mein Noodles Cook chow mein noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Step 4: Stir-Fry Chicken In a wok or large pan, heat vegetable oil over high heat. Stir-fry the marinated chicken until cooked through. Remove from the wok and set aside.

Step 7: Add Noodles Add the cooked chow mein noodles to the wok. Toss to coat the noodles in the flavorful sauce and evenly distribute the ingredients.
