Valentines Day Creme Caramel

Ingredients:

For Caramel:

  1. 1 cup granulated sugar
  2. 1/4 cup water

For Custard:

  1. 2 cups whole milk
  2. 4 large eggs
  3. 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  4. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For Serving:

Fresh berries or mint leaves for garnish

Steps:

Caramel: Step 1: In a saucepan, combine sugar and water over medium heat. Allow the sugar to dissolve without stirring.

Step 2: Cook until the sugar turns a deep amber color. Quickly pour the caramel into ramekins, swirling to coat the bottoms evenly.

Custard: Step 3: Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C).

Step 4: In a separate saucepan, heat milk until it's just about to boil. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Step 5: In a bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract. Gradually add the warm milk, whisking continuously.

Step 6: Strain the custard mixture to ensure a smooth texture.

Step 7: Pour the custard into the caramel-coated ramekins.

Baking: Step 8: Place the ramekins in a baking dish. Fill the dish with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the ramekins.

Step 9: Bake in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes or until the custard is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.

Step 10: Remove from the oven and let the Crème Caramel cool. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.

Serving: Step 11: Run a knife around the edges of each ramekin and invert the Crème Caramel onto serving plates.

Step 12: Garnish with fresh berries or mint leaves.

Celebrate love and sweetness with this velvety Crème Caramel, a perfect ending to a romantic Valentine's Day dinner. Enjoy!
