Ingredients:

  1. All-purpose flour (1 cup)
  2. Cocoa powder (1/2 cup)
  3. Baking soda (1/2 teaspoon)
  4. Salt (1/4 teaspoon)
  5. Unsalted butter (1/2 cup, softened)
  6. Granulated sugar (3/4 cup)
  7. Brown sugar (1/4 cup, packed)
  8. Egg (1)
  9. Vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)
  10. Chocolate chips or chunks (1 cup)
  11. Chopped nuts (optional, for added crunch)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients:
    • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugars:
    • In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add Egg and Vanilla:
    • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Fold in Chocolate and Nuts:
    • Fold in the chocolate chips or chunks and chopped nuts (if using) into the cookie dough.
  7. Scoop and Arrange on Baking Sheets:
    • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving enough space between each cookie for spreading.
  8. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set. The centers may still look slightly soft.
  9. Cool on Baking Sheets:
    • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Enjoy:
    • Once cooled, these Crunchy Chocolate Cookies are ready to be enjoyed with a glass of milk or your favorite hot beverage.

Tips:

  • Experiment with different types of chocolate (dark, milk, or white) for varied flavors.
  • For an extra crunch, use a combination of chocolate chips and chopped nuts like walnuts or almonds.
