Delicious Homemade Tonkatsu Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Combine Ingredients:
    • In a bowl, whisk together ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, Dijon mustard, minced garlic (if using), and grated ginger (if using).
  2. Mix Well:
    • Stir the ingredients until well combined, ensuring that the sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Adjust Taste:
    • Taste the sauce and adjust the ingredients to your liking. Add more sugar if you prefer it sweeter or more soy sauce for saltiness.
  4. Let it Rest:
    • Allow the sauce to rest for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  5. Serve:
    • Once the Tonkatsu sauce is ready, use it as a dipping sauce for your favorite breaded and fried dishes, such as Tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) or Chicken Katsu.
