Chili Dog Mac and Cheese

Ingredients

  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 4 hot dogs, sliced
  • 1 can (15 oz) chili (homemade or store-bought)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: chopped green onions, jalapeños, or sour cream

Instructions

Step 1: Cook macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

Step 2: In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour to create a roux.

Step 3: Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.

Step 4: Reduce heat and add shredded cheddar cheese. Stir until melted and smooth.

Step 5: Add cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce, stirring to coat evenly.

Step 6: In a separate pan, cook sliced hot dogs until browned.

Step 7: Warm the chili in a saucepan or microwave.
