Favorite Focaccia

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • Toppings of your choice (e.g., rosemary, olives, cherry tomatoes)

Instructions

Step 1: In a bowl, dissolve sugar in warm water and add yeast. Let it sit until frothy.

Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture.

Step 3: Gradually mix in flour, then knead the dough until smooth. Cover and let it rise until doubled in size.

Step 4: Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F). Punch down the dough and transfer it to a greased baking sheet.

Step 5: Stretch the dough to fit the pan. Use your fingertips to create dimples on the surface.

Step 6: Drizzle olive oil over the dough and add your preferred toppings.
