Amazing Chocolate Cake Decorating

Ingredients:

  • 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cocoa powder.
  3. Add sugar, eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually add boiling water to the batter, mixing well. The batter will be thin, but that's okay.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Once the cakes are completely cooled, you can frost and decorate them as desired.

Optional Frosting:

  • Chocolate Ganache:
    • 1 cup heavy cream
    • 8 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped

Instructions for Chocolate Ganache:

  1. Heat the heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
  2. Place the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
  3. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let it sit for a minute to melt.
  4. Stir the ganache until smooth and glossy.
  5. Allow the ganache to cool slightly before pouring it over the cooled chocolate cake.
