Perfect Marble Sponge Cake
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 and 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
Cooking Steps:
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
Step 2: In a bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Step 4: Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract.
Step 5: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk. Begin and end with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
Step 6: Divide the batter in half. In one half, gently fold in the unsweetened cocoa powder, creating the chocolate batter.
Step 7: Alternately spoon dollops of vanilla and chocolate batter into the prepared cake pan.
Step 8: Once all the batter is in the pan, use a knife to swirl the two batters together to create a marbled effect.
Step 9: Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Step 10: Allow the Marble Sponge Cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 11: Slice and enjoy the delightful swirls of vanilla and chocolate in each soft and airy bite.
Savor the timeless appeal of Marble Sponge Cake – a perfect treat for any occasion that combines the best of both vanilla and chocolate flavors.
