Saas Ni Macchi

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams white fish fillets (pomfret or any white fish)
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup cashew nuts, soaked in water
  • 1/4 cup fresh coriander, chopped
  • 1/4 cup mint leaves, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 2-3 green chilies, chopped
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Cooking Steps:

Step 1: Marinate the fish fillets with salt, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Set aside for 15-20 minutes.

Step 2: In a blender, combine yogurt, coconut milk, soaked cashew nuts, ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, mint leaves, and fresh coriander. Blend into a smooth paste.

Step 3: Heat vegetable oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.

Step 4: Add chopped green chilies and the marinated fish fillets. Sear the fish on both sides until golden brown.

Step 5: Pour the blended white sauce mixture over the fish. Simmer on low heat until the fish is cooked through and the sauce thickens.

Step 6: Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
