Sweet and Spicy Nagamoto Pork

Sweet and Spicy Nagamoto Pork

Ingredients:

For the Nagamoto Pork:

  • 1 pound pork loin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup mirin (sweet rice wine)
  • 2 tablespoons sake
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean red pepper paste)
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (for thickening)
  • Sesame seeds and sliced green onions (for garnish)

Cooking Steps:

Step 1: In a bowl, mix soy sauce, mirin, sake, brown sugar, honey, gochujang, grated ginger, minced garlic, and sesame oil to create the Nagamoto sauce.

Step 2: In a pan or skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

Step 3: Add thinly sliced pork to the hot pan and cook until browned on both sides.

Step 4: Pour the Nagamoto sauce over the pork, ensuring it's evenly coated. Simmer for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Step 5: In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with a bit of water to create a slurry. Add it to the pan, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens.

Step 6: Reduce the heat to low and let the pork simmer in the sauce for an additional 5-7 minutes until it's cooked through and the flavors are well-absorbed.

Step 7: Adjust the sweetness and spiciness according to your taste preference by adding more sugar or gochujang if needed.

Step 8: Garnish the Sweet and Spicy Nagamoto Pork with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Step 9: Serve the Nagamoto Pork over steamed rice or noodles.

Enjoy the harmonious blend of sweet and spicy flavors in this Nagamoto Pork dish, a delightful addition to your Asian-inspired culinary repertoire.
