Clover Club

Clover Club

The Clover Club was created at the Waldorf-Astoria in 1901. The original creator is unknown but it's said that Michael Killackey, the head bartender, was responsible for popularising the drink. The drink came from an era where gentlemen's clubs celebrated with club-named cocktails (Pegu Club, Pendennis Club, etc.). Many recipe omit dry vermouth but the original recipe was resurrected at Brooklyn's Clover Club bar by Julie Reiner.
