Kangkong Chips

Ingredients & Costing:
Batter Mixture:
- 1 1/2 cup All Purpose Flour - 9 pesos
- 1/2 cup Cornstarch - 3 pesos
- 1 egg - 5.5 pesos
- 1/4 tsp salt = 5 centavos
- 1 tbsp Chicken Powder - 3 pesos
- 1 1/4 cup water - 50 centavos
Coating Mixture:
- 1 1/2 cup Potato Starch - 30 pesos
- 1 tsp Chicken Powder - 1 peso
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder - 50 centavos
- 1/2 tsp white pepper - 50 centavos
- Cooking Oil - 30 pesos
- 2 Tali Kangkong - 30 pesos
Kangkong, also known as water spinach, is a delicious and nutritious vegetable that can be made into a crispy and flavorful snack. Here's a recipe for Kangkong chips:
Ingredients:
- 1 bunch kangkong (water spinach)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup cold water
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
- Wash the kangkong and remove the leaves from the stems.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Gradually add the cold water, whisking continuously until the batter is smooth and thick.
- Heat the oil in a deep fryer or a heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat.
- Dip each kangkong leaf into the batter, making sure it is well coated.
- Gently shake off any excess batter and carefully place the leaf into the hot oil.
- Fry for 1-2 minutes or until the chips are golden brown and crispy.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove the chips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
- Repeat the process with the remaining kangkong leaves until all the chips are fried.
- Serve the kangkong chips immediately while they are still warm and crispy.
