Hot dog buns

INGREDIENTS

  • 240ml (1 cup) warm milk; 20g (2 tbsp) sugar; 1 egg; 7g (1 ½ tsp) dry yeast; 440g (3 1/2 cups) all-purpose flour; 2g (½ tsp) salt; 30g (2 tbsp) soft butter.

METHOD

  1. Whisk warm milk with sugar, egg, and salt. Sprinkle dry yeast and whisk to combine.
  2. Add sifted flour into the liquid and knead until smooth dough forms.
  3. Knead soft butter into the dough and form it into a ball.
  4. Set the ball aside to double in size (for around 1 hour).
  5. Cut the dough into 10 pieces, and roll each one into a hot dog-shaped bun as shown in the video. Set the buns aside until they are doubled in size (for around 30 minutes).
  6. Brush hot dog buns with whisked egg and bake at 180°C/350°F for 20 minutes.
